Bromazolam is an unapproved designer benzodiazepine in the triazolobenzodiazepine group. WHO reviews, public-health alerts, DEA documents and forensic case series describe increasing detections, mislabelled tablets and deaths, often in polysubstance contexts. Its expected mechanism is benzodiazepine-like positive allosteric modulation of GABA-A receptors, producing sedation, amnesia, disinhibition and impaired coordination. The central harm-reduction warning is blackouts and respiratory depression, especially when combined with opioids, alcohol, GHB/GBL, gabapentinoids, other benzodiazepines/Z-drugs or sedating medicines; dependence and withdrawal may include seizures.
